i believe that recommendation systems are the work of the devil, 'el trabajo del diablo.' you have people and things and you want to solve for who is likely to like what and so you can put objects in front of people and charge them money or take more productivity from them. also while doing my undergrad never never have i ever read an equation or theorem and felt like wow this is evil but while reading the mathematical foundations of recsys i did feel that way.
